Reading requires a child to think and process information and the more a child read, the deeper their understanding becomes of what they are reading and its application. If a child is not focused on what she or he is reading, then mind will wander and it will become occupied with other thoughts. Speed Reading helps build focus.
Writing is a lifelong skill that forces a child to organize thoughts in a clear and concise manner & developing writing skills can help strengthen a child's ability to make reasoned arguments on a variety of subjects, which is useful in school, college and on the job.
