Mind Power Enrichment and Experiential Learning (MEEL) Program understands that this is a prime age for developing foundational programming skills and offer a foundation course in Java for students in Grade 5, Grade 6, Grade 7 and Grade 8. Java is a “high-level” language because it can be read and written easily by humans. Just like English, Java has a set of rules that determine how the instructions are written. These rules are known as its “syntax”. Java enables programmers to write computer instructions using English based commands, instead of having to write in numeric codes. Once a program has been written, the high-level instructions are translated into numeric codes that computers can understand and execute. There are lots of applications and websites that won't work unless you have Java installed, and more are created every day. Java is fast, secure, and reliable. From laptops to data enters, game consoles to scientific supercomputers, cell phones to the Internet, Java is everywhere.
Some of the topics covered are: Introduction to Java Programming (Concepts such as Coding, Running your code, Understanding Errors etc.), Data Types, Variables, Integers, Math Operators, Booleans, Doubles, Strings, If Statements, and Else, Else if, For Loops, While Loops, Incrementation, Break, Nested Loops (Nested If, Nested While, Nested For), Arrays etc.
The Java course typically takes 5 months to complete with just 1 hour per week of teacher instruction that will not put any real burden on child.
This Java course is meant for elementary (5th/6th) & middle school (7th/8th) students, they learn the fundamentals of Java and masters it. No prior knowledge about Java is needed.
